Gizem Agir – From Evidence to Practice: Integrating Mindful Eating into Clinical Care Abstract
As a researcher and clinical dietitian, I have many years of clinical experience working with individuals with obesity and eating disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings at a private neuropsychiatric hospital. Between 2012 and 2018, I also served as a faculty member in the same hospital. I completed my Ph.D. in Nutrition and Dietetics at the Başkent University Institute of Health Sciences, where my doctoral research focused on mindful eating. In addition, I visited specialized eating disorder clinics in Manhattan and the Hamptons, further expanding my international clinical insight and professional experience. My academic work has largely focused on mindfulness-based approaches to eating behavior. In 2016, I introduced the concept of “Mindful Eating” to the Turkish scientific literature by providing its first academic definition in Turkish and adapted the Mindful Eating Questionnaire into Turkish, contributing validated measurement tools to the field.
In addition to publishing numerous scientific articles, I completed Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) in Boston, USA, and advanced mindful eating training at TCME. I have also authored several books and textbooks, mostly focus on mindful eating. I continue my academic career as an Associate Professor and Program Director of the English Program in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Health Sciences, Acibadem University, Istanbul, Turkiye (https://avesis.acibadem.edu.tr/gizem.agir). Mindful eating and eating disorders remain the central focus of my academic work and my enduring passion.

Frisk & Fri & David Clinton – Utilising patient advocates in the co-production of knowledge to narrow the gap between research and clinical care Abstract
Frisk & Fri: Riksföreningen mot ätstörningar is a Swedish non-profit organisation working towards a society free of eating disorders. Our work is grounded in the lived experience, as contributed by individuals with personal experience of eating disorders and their relatives. As an organisation, we amplify those voices that are often overlooked. This perspective forms the core of our contribution to research and clinical practice. Our goal is to ensure timely access to support and to foster integration of research, clinical expertise, and lived experience to improve understanding and care of eating disorders in Sweden. Furthermore, we provide nationwide support to individuals who are at risk of or are suffering from an eating disorder and their relatives through helplines, chat services, support groups, and open meetings nationwide. We offer knowledge and work preventively through educational and information initiatives as well as collaborate with healthcare and societal actors to advance prevention and health promotion. We engage in advocacy to strengthen the care, promote equitable access to treatment, and ensure that experiential knowledge informs guidelines and decision‑making.

Inger Becker, Bente Sommerfeldt, Charlotte Sollid & Cecilia Brundin Pettersson – Tailoring support for eating disorders during pregnancy and early motherhood: Bridging research and clinical care Abstract
Inger Becker
As a psychiatric nurse, trained psychotherapist, and supervisor, I have over 40 years of experience working with patients with eating disorders, including 23 years in a specialized outpatient clinic for eating disorders at Aalborg Psychiatric Hospital, Denmark.
I have worked extensively with pregnant women, new mothers, and their partners. To improve care for this group, I took the initiative to establish a multidisciplinary, cross-sectoral interest group consisting of obstetricians, midwives, health nurses, and social workers. The group aims to strengthen collaboration across services and enhance professionals’ knowledge of eating disorders during pregnancy and early motherhood.

In this workshop I will refer to results from my own research and clinical practice and to different paths in and out of eating problems. I will highlight important differences in women’s experiences that may indicate necessary clinical adjustments.
